John Lewis, a prominent retailer catering to diverse demographics with a wide array of products, embarked on a project centered on items and furniture in collaboration with the university curriculum. The objective was to thoroughly examine the market dynamics, demographic trends, and socio-psychological influences related to a particular product category, leveraging these insights to develop a compelling concept for presentation and pitching.

The final product mirrored the socio-economic studies carried out previously, ensuring that it would fit a target demography that John Lewis had. Personality and a glimpse of personal design philosophy had to be included. How would it differentiate itself from the rest of the current John Lewis market?

The chair takes inspiration from traditional Scandinavian bearings and offers a new take on classic seating while ensuring optimum ergonomic comfort. Graceful and stylish, the minimal chair has a slender stainless steel frame and an oak body to guarantee durability, creating an unobtrusive piece of furniture that reflects research, interests, and a balance between form and function whilst being visually engaging.

Carefully creating an environment for the final product to be placed in, as it would enhance its alignment with the targeted demographic, maximize the visual impact, and later on increase the likelihood of being purchased by a clientele.

The documentation regarding the research and development process can be available upon request.
