OHKO is a personal brand identity concept, reflecting the admiration and love for the brutalist movement and minimalism across multi-disciplinary mediums. Having used Brutalism as a primary source of inspiration on all university editorial pieces, as well as product conceptualisation on this architectural style, I wanted to go further and create a design identity that could reflect this passion: from the typography, page composition to website interface layouts.

There is an immense sense of comfort in a style that is often described as stark, unadorned, and eerie. As simple as it may appear in theory, its historical background and intimidating contrast to the urban landscape in today’s time stays among some of the most interestingly complex visuals.

The almost non-existent presence of colour and alarming occupancy of a monochromatic colour scheme displayed in mediums is not only the start of a simplistic style but also an exhibition of the love for that peculiar colour palette. To compensate for this lack of colour, appropriate composition, contrast between the font for the logo and body text, and other simple visual tricks are present to showcase this particular design route.
